February 07, 2018 – Award winning home builder Metricon has partnered with Australia’s leading solar and battery provider, Bradford Energy, to announce the next wave of home innovation. The partnership means every new Designer by Metricon home purchased in New South Wales and Queensland will receive the option to include Bradford Solar ChargePack, which comes equipped with the innovative Tesla Powerwall 2 home battery.
Including the 5.4kW Bradford Solar ChargePack will see households save up to $30,000 on energy over a ten year period, and reduce carbon emissions by an average of over 6,000 kg’s annually. In the first year of living in a Metricon home, a household of 4 can enjoy $2,100 average electricity bill savings. Instead of sending excess solar energy into the grid, Tesla Powerwall 2 stores it for use any time. The ChargePack technology is the next step in a comprehensive approach to green, affordable all-electric solar power, delivering further cost savings to homeowners.
Metricon General Manager, Jason Biasin, said the uptake of the Bradford Solar ChargePack with Tesla Powerall 2 is proof that rising costs and concerns about supply have resulted in an increase in customers wanting to know what their options are, with the optional upgrade so far exceeding all expectations. “We have seen hundreds of customers choose to build with the Bradford Solar ChargePack so far” Biasin said. “Not only does this place new home owners ahead of the property game when it comes to energy cost savings, it also adds value to their home with increasing market demand for energy self-sufficient homes.”
“A recent report from the Australian Competition & Consumer Commission in to energy prices found that Australian power bills have risen 63 per cent in less than a decade,” Biasin added. “As Australia’s number one new home builder, with a record of introducing cutting-edge home designs, we want to be part of the solution.
Bradford Energy Business Manager Ashleigh O’Brien said that beyond a desire to take control of their power prices, customers for household solar and battery systems are also looking to the future energy and technology needs of their homes. “There is a good chance that a child born today will drive an electric vehicle when they are old enough to drive,” O’Brien said. “Preparing Australian home’s for increased electricity use is just another benefit of installing solar and battery technology, and this is just one example of how homeowners are equipping their homes to meet the needs of tomorrow.”
“This partnership reflects recent findings from the Climate Council showing that three-quarters of Australians believe household batteries will become commonplace in the next decade, so we are working with Metricon to meet these expectations” Ms O’Brien added.
The optional upgrade that includes the Bradford Solar ChargePack also includes the chance to win a Tesla Model S electric vehicle. Valued at up to $130,000 each, the electric powered car is designed to be the safest and most technology sophisticated sedan on the road. Tesla Powerwall 2 home battery is charged with energy from solar panels, which is then used to power household requirements.
Bradford Energy has collaborated with Tesla Energy to bring its global leading Powerall battery technology into Australian homes, transforming the way Australians are consuming and storing energy.
